A.J. Roxx is a small neighborhood bar where the beat of music booms big.
It's a Fun place for locals and people in the area to stop in for a beer, a game of pool or darts, karaoke, or occasional live music. The house drink is a Punch in the Head.
Like many urban Miami-Dade bars of this type, safety is assured by door staff who frisk at the entrance. At 11 p.m. on a Friday, the place is about one-third full. By 1 a.m. customers are streaming in in waves.
Drink specials and ladies' nights abound. Music follows themes: Saturdays, for example, a DJ spins hip-hop, dance, alternative and rock. Wednesdays, it's r&b. (Both nights, plus Fridays, karaoke kicks in later.)
A.J. Roxx is a place for people big on music who don't need to be big spenders.
